Biography

of Philip Neves

Philip Neves is an artist, born in Paris, France. Since he was a child, he showed interest and interest in drawings. As a teenager, he also showed a taste for photography, to which he devoted himself for a short time. He studied Basic Education in the city of Braga, Portugal, at a boarding school. There, he began his “first exhibitions” on school murals indirectly, encouraged by the Arts teacher.

Upon entering secondary school, he had already decided on the artistic area, choosing the Professional Technical Course in Graphic Arts in the city of Porto - Portugal. This fact added to the foundation of studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, which he later studied.

Upon entering the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto - Portugal, he understood better the importance of Art in society, how much it makes the human being more reflective, how much it broadens horizons, because through it we understand the past and the present. During his time at the Faculty of Fine Arts, he led an Exhibition together with the professor of Printmaking. Participated in Collective and Individual Exhibitions, always with drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures and artistic ceramics. His works portray much of the human figure and the concerns that permeate the mind and convey the idea of contemporary society.

In his works, he uses the technique of multidirectional grooves, the artist's identity. For some years, he dedicated himself to the work of Graphic Designer, without leaving his taste for drawings, paints and clay, carrying out some works during this period and increasing his collection of works.

He moved to Brazil in 2008, when he started to study and adapt to Brazilian culture in his new works. In Brazil, he was invited to participate in some Exhibitions, through which he highlighted the importance of Art in people's lives, expressing emotions, feelings, fears that human beings carry in their daily lives and relating geometric figures to some issues addressed in their works.

Philip Neves uses multidirectional grooves expressively, conveying the restlessness and impatience of today's society. In the sculptural part, the figure is expressed in plastic form, demonstrating its identity as in drawing, through the artist's work process and the textures absorbed there by the material. It also uses the geometric part as in the drawing, thereby adding the solid, rigid part and the balance of the composition.
